The Ten Words (Commandments)

The Ten Commandments are the Laws that were handed down to Moshe (Moses) after being written by the finger of Elohim.  The Ten Commands were a gift of life to Moshe and the Yisraelites who came out of Mitsrayim (Egypt).  If they obeyed, then they lived.  If they disobeyed, they died.

YAHUAH set His people free from Mitsrayim and brought them into the wilderness.  There He cleansed them from the ways of Mitsrayim and taught them His ways so that they would become His very own people.  He promised to bring them into the Promised Land according to their belief.

The Ten Commands, or Ten Words, are actually ten divisions or categories of the entire Torah.  All of the Laws of the Torah fit under one of these ten categories.  Furthermore, these Ten Commands are summarized into two commands:

  • “And you shall love YAHUAH your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your might."  (Deb/Deut. 6:5)

  • "And you shall love your neighbour as yourself."  (Way/Lev 19:18)

The Ten Commands and all other Laws in the Torah fall under one of the two great commands.  The first tablet of the Covenant (the first 5 of the Ten Commands) come under the First Great Command because they relate to man's relationship to YAHUAH.  The second tablet of the Covenant (commands six through 10) are under the Second Great Command because they deal with man's relationship with one another.

Obedience to the Commands of YAHUAH bring blessings upon our lives in wealth, health, long life, and complete favor from above.  Disobedience brings punishment and lack of favor.

Choose life and learn of His Commands to walk in obedience.  His word is life to our being, healing to the body, and long, prosperous life.  His Commands are our Gift of Life--the Torah.
